Research grants and publishing
At our department, under “The Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences Publication Assistance Program”, the publishing of books that contribute to international partnerships should be done independently and we have established a publication assistance program. In 2010, the first year of the program, six PHD candidates published their thesis through this program. In the future, this program will continue to support the publication of high-level research of graduate students and alumni.
Application Details / Format
The “2013 School Year Spring Semester Research Promotion Policy / the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences Publication Assistance Program” will accept applications under the following conditions.

Purpose
To support the publication of literature that will contribute to sophistication of research and localization of international research institution of Ritsumeikan University Graduate School of Core Ethic and Frontier Science.

Application Details
Eligible to: Research of successful Research results of PHD graduates (including pending) of the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences as well as faculty (including part-time) of the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences. A general rule, applicants must be individuals. Must be written by one author. However, in the case of projects led by faculty of the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences, it may be possible to apply with joint authors and editors.
Assistance cost: Cost directly pertaining to publication
Assistance scale: 500,000 yen x several spots
Assistance term: Publications before the end of September 2013
Eligible to: Successful PHD graduates (including pending) of the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences as well as faculty (including part-time) of the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences
Application term: Friday, December 14th, 2012 to Friday, February 15, 2013 (deadline will be strictly enforced)

About Application Review
Review body: the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences
Criteria: Publications that have high-level research that will contribute to the increase and localization of international research institutions of Ritsumeikan University Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences, publications with low selling power (there are cases this will be considered after contacting the publisher on this point). Priority will be given to applications by young researchers. Other factors to publishing will be considered.
The situation of application for other assistance programs will be considered
Review term: Mid-February 2013 (Notification to candidates will be made at the end of February.) -
Points of Notice:
After selection, a contract (between author and publisher) and publishing assistance contract (Ritsumeikan university and publisher) will be put in writing.
The review criteria and points of notice also apply to the Ritsumeikan Academic Book Promotion Program, so please confirm the details of the program.
